Flickr meets vBulletin

Update: Something changed on Flickr, so I have updated them on their own page

I’ve been posting a lot of Flickr images to vBulletin sites (like NAM) and found the number of steps required to come up with the proper post code to be a royal pain in the ass (like most things with vBulletin). Here’s a little bookmarklet that will pop up a JavaScript prompt containing the requisite code to display a medium-sized image with a link back to that image on Flickr:

Flickr to vBulletin

(wow, that was way more work to post to this entry with Textile than it should have been…)

When on an image’s page in Flickr (such as this one), click the bookmarklet, and you’ll be given the code that will look something like this:

Cool tool!! But how does it work? When I click on the Flickr to vBulletin link it gives an error. Is that a shortcut to a tool? I’m using IE6 on Windows and desparately need an easier way of linking my pictures!

Sorry for not explaining better. It’s a bookmarklet, or a little piece of JavaScript that gets executed when you click on it, instead of directing you to another web page. To use it, drag the link up to your links bar in IE (where I haven’t tested it, just so you know…) and then, from a Flickr page, click it and you should get a little JavaScript prompt with the vB code in it.

Ohhhh very nice!! I like!! Another thought I had was using the RSS Feed to generate a new page that was tagged using the vBulletin format under each image. But that’s ANOTHER project I don’t have time for. =) Good work! I’ll post this on NAM.

Works pretty slick on Firefox (Windows) too! Just dragged it up to my shortcut and BOOM!

    Nice mod!
