Bodyrockers – ★★★½

I succumbed to another impulse buy at the iTMS last night. I downloaded the Bodyrockers’ self-titled album after hearing _ on Radio Paradise the other night. It’s totally decadent. ‘80’s flashback with a new-millenium spin, or something like that. There’s bits of classic AC/DC, some Wham!, a little “Vertigo”-esque Bono, and other stuff that rings a bell from 20 years ago. I don’t think I’d necessarily call the album “good”, but it’s fun. It starts and ends a bit slow; the first and lasts tracks you can pretty much throw away, but things pick up with “I Like the Way”, “I Wanna Live”, and “You Got Me Singing” and makes for a nice creamy center. Very danceable.

This is definitely going in the driving mix.

A catchy bit of binary

10001110101. That translates, variously, to “vp”, 1141, 02165, and 0×475, depending on what base you’re feeling like you belong to. I’d love to spend the rest of the night looking for deeper meaning in these various permutations, but a guy’s gotta sleep sometime, right?

So, anyway, I’ve been listening to a lot of Clutch lately. I’ve had multiple copies of their self-titled disc since the early ‘90s, and then I re-discovered them when I found Blast Tyrant on the iTMS earlier in the year, and Robot Hive/Exodus a couple of weeks ago. 10001110101 is one of the tracks, and, thanks to a bit of Googling, landed on their lyrics page. Holy Geekdom, Batman! They’ve linked spuriously to Wikipedia, and even have their own page. Sweet!
