Sputnik
May 20, 2005 to November 10, 2006
Sputnik was my first MINI, a 2005 MINI Cooper S. I traded Sputnik in for Scrat after about 18 months and 36,000 miles. He had his quirks, to be sure, but he was a good little MINI. The timing was right, however, to upgrade to the latest and greatest of the outgoing model.
I was fairly conservative with mods; the only thing I did that I didn’t reverse before selling it was the EBC Greenstuff pads. Everything else was reverted to stock and re-applied to Scrat.
We had a good time, Sputnik and I. Four track days, three autocrosses, half a dozen runs to Chicago from Indy, and several longer treks to New Hampshire (twice), New York (um, a bunch?), North Carolina (thrice), Missouri, and Tennessee (twice). Two trips to the Dragon, camping, and lots of coffee runs.
I hope he finds a new home soon and that his new owners keep up the motoring spirit!
